top-6-podcasts-post_small_opti

Podcasts are one of the best ways for those with Dyslexia to stay informed without the hassle of reading. If you’re unfamiliar with podcasts, think of them as the audio version of Netflicks. They are radio shows that can be downloaded and listened to on your mobile device or computer. Most mainstream radio stations have spinoff podcasts, but you’re not limited to listening to content from established broadcasters. Much like YouTubers, anyone with a bit of tech knowledge and some subject matter to talk about can set up a podcast. Meaning you will find a podcast on any subject you want to learn more about. Much of this content would never be broadcast on traditional radio stations.

6. The Codpast   OK it’s a bit cheeky of me, but if you’ve only read and watch the videos on this blog, then you are missing a whole world of dyslexic audio heaven. Each show features a fascinating story full of inspiration and advice on how to succeed despite your Dyslexia.

sysk-podcast-logo-opt-small5. Stuff You Should Know After listening to this show your friends and family will see you as some kind of oracle. In each episode the show’s hosts take a subject and break it down to give you an in-depth knowledge. Topics range from Hip – Hop to The Berlin Wall to Tupperware and everything in between. The thing I love about this podcast is, the things that sound like they will be really boring turn out to be the most interesting. http://www.stuffyoushouldknow.com/podcasts/

4. Tech News Today If you’re into mobile phones, apps, computer games or what’s new on the web, this is the show for you. After listening to this show you will have the latest tech news before any of your friends. http://www.technewstoday.com/

3. Answer Me This (AMT) The only other British podcast on this list, AMT is a must listen. This is the perfect mix of entertainment and education. Listeners can ask questions on any subject they want and the presenters will answer the questions. The USP of this show is what the presenters do with the questions. Rather than just being given the answers, you are taken on a comic detour, which ultimately ends up in a whole load of random knowledge. http://answermethispodcast.com/

99pi-opt-small2. 99% Invisible This is a show about design. When I heard about this show, I thought, ‘how boring.’ After listening, I realised the design element is only there to allow the presenter to tell some of the most interesting stories around. This is also one of the most beautiful sounding shows on the web. http://99percentinvisible.org/

1. Serial If you only ever listen to one podcast this is the one to listen to. Serial is a 12 part documentary series which follows investigative journalist, Sarah Koenig as she tries to solve the mystery surrounding the imprisonment of Adnan, a Boston resident who has been charged with the murder of his ex-girlfriend. The most impressive thing about this show is that the whole thing is 100% true. http://serialpodcast.org/
